Why is it that in Austria, it’s a must to serve beer with a (foam) crown, while in America it’s not? Is it because Austrians might be the more sensual or playful beer drinkers? Those who love having to dive their upper lip through a cozy wall of foam first, only to then dive even more fulfilled and reliefed into the truly liquid part of the thirst-quenching “hop-nectar”? Is there a reason why this sensory sensation is completely overlooked in the United States? Or could it even be that it has yet to be discovered?
In times like these. In times where I often feel that many people have a desperate longing for the security of uniformity. In such times, today, I want to raise my glass to these wonderfully inexplicable differences between the Biergarten-culture over here and the one in Sarah’s country! To the idea that differences, and especially just talking about them, can actually be something incredibly unifying, valuable, funny and sometimes even charmingly sexy! Curiosity instead of fear. Laughter and joy instead of shame and insecurity. Here’s to everything that is simply and purely…different! Here’s to all different crowns! Cheers & Prost!
